Sonali Khanna

Sonali Khanna is a Paralegal at IndUS Counsel. Sonali is licensed to practice law in India and is currently awaiting admission to practice law in California. She is fluent in Hindi and Punjabi.

Sonali focuses her practice on estate planning. In particular, she assists with the preparation of diverse estate plans for individuals and families, document drafting, coordinating with clients, and handles estate planning signings, title recordings, trust funding, and closing and post-closing tasks.

Sonali is an alumnus of the UC Berkeley School of Law where she was a member of the Berkeley Technology Law Journal serving as a podcast speaker and researcher.

For leisure, Sonali loves to travel, read, and practice yoga.

Jennifer Davila-Uribe

Jennifer Davila-Uribe is a Legal Secretary at IndUS Counsel. She is fluent in Spanish.

Jennifer is often the first point-of-contact at the firm for new clients. She expertly handles various administrative responsibilities, including client intake, scheduling meetings, responding to potential client queries, verifying clients' legal insurance coverage, and other office management and admin duties. She also assists the firm's attorneys, paralegals and legal assistants in closing and post-closing tasks.

Jennifer graduated with a degree in fine arts from Cal State East Bay where she was a member of the Dean's List. Jennifer is an avid photographer with prior work experience as a Sales Associate at JCPenny Portraits.

Jennifer's personal hobbies include photography, traveling, trying new coffee shops, and cooking.

Rutuja Deshpande

Attorney

Rutuja Deshpande is dual licensed to practice law as an attorney in California and India who acts as legal consultant at IndUS Counsel. Rutuja is fluent in Hindi and Marathi.

Rutuja has represented several hundred individuals and families in setting up, updating and modifying their estate plans, strategized and structured the creation of custom estate plans and asset protection portfolios, including setting up of rental LLCs and multi-state entities, preparing estate planning documents for the protection of young adults and minor children, creating revocable living trusts, recording real property title transfers throughout California, and assisting with international estate planning matters and inter-generational transfer of wealth.

Rutuja also has extensive legal experience working with startups and emerging growth companies. She has advised clients on entity formation, business structuring, equity compensation arrangements, corporate governance, corporate compliance, and angel and venture financings. Rutuja has drafted diverse corporate and commercial contracts, including buy-sell agreements, founder agreements, stock purchase agreements, equity compensation plans, lease agreements, and asset transfer agreements.

Rutuja is an alumnus of the UC Berkeley School of Law where she served as an Articles Editor and a member of the submissions team for UC Berkeley Technology Law Journal. She holds a CIPP/US certification.

When she is not working, Rutuja likes to solve jigsaw puzzles, travel, and explore new restaurants.

Snehal Patil

Snehal Patil is the founder, CEO and Managing Partner of IndUS Counsel. Snehal has over two decades of experience as an attorney in the United States and India, and is dual-licensed to practice law in both countries. He is fluent in English, Hindi and Marathi.

Snehal has extensive experience in estate planning matters, including asset protection, kids protection, business succession planning, family wealth planning, setting up of revocable and irrevocable trusts, third party supplemental needs trusts, estate tax and gift tax planning, and trust administration. He routinely counsels clients on strategies aimed at preservation and transfer of intergenerational wealth, including setting up of rental LLCs, multi-state entities, and complex business structures. Snehal is also well versed with estate planning matters related to India. To date, Snehal has represented thousands of individuals and families in securing their life and legacy for future generations.

Snehal also has in-depth experience as a corporate lawyer representing startups, emerging growth businesses, and Fortune 500 companies in corporate formations, equity issuance, stock options and executive compensation plans, commercial and technology contracts, debt financings, private equity and venture financing, business buy-sell agreements, mergers and acquisitions, exit strategies and dissolutions, and U.S.-India transactions.

Snehal is a former member of India’s prestigious Civil Services to which he was appointed by the President of India. He was also recommended Snehal has extensive experience in estate planning matters, including asset protection, kids protection, business succession planning, family wealth planning, setting up of revocable and irrevocable trusts, third party supplemental needs trusts, estate tax and gift tax planning, and trust administration. He routinely counsels clients on strategies aimed at preservation and transfer of intergenerational wealth, including setting up of rental LLCs, multi-state entities, and complex business structures. Snehal is also well for appointment to India’s Cabinet Secretariat, headed by the Prime Minister of India. Snehal previously worked at India’s top law firm, DSK Legal (formerly, Andersen Legal India), and subsequently at three AmLaw 100 firms: Thelen LLP, Perkins Coie LLP, and Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP in their San Francisco and Palo Alto offices. He was also a partner at a national U.S. law firm where he chaired the firm’s India Practice.
